The Wharton-Smith Tropical Splash Ground provides zoo goers of all ages with a fun and easy way to cool off during the hotter months. Inside the Central Florida Zoo lies a refreshing oasis called the Wharton-Smith Tropical Splash Ground, complete with streams, sprinklers, and sprays. It's great for children of all ages because of the many different water elements, such as the animal features, the rainy trees, and the bucket dump. In addition to your usual Zoo entrance, you can also enjoy the Tropical Splash Ground for no additional cost. A reminder that even though the Wharton-Smith Tropical Splash Ground is available year-round, it will be closed if the temperature drops below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. When lightning or thunder is heard or observed in the Zoo's immediate area, the Splash Ground will also be closed. In such a case, Zoo administration will keep the Splash Ground closed until 30 minutes have passed without any reports of thunder or lightning.

Here at the Central Florida Zoo, our giraffes welcome visitors to get as near as they like. Their enormous size will astound you when they reach down to feed straight from your hand, their 18- to 20-inch long tongue stretching out to grab whatever tasty morsel you've offered them. At this hands-on display, you can get face time with either Rafiki or Gage, depending on who's more hungry.

Barnyard Buddies Children's Zoo is a great place to take the kids to interact with and feed adorable farm animals like llamas, goats, pigs, guinea hens, and alpacas. This is your chance of a lifetime, so take advantage of it by getting close and having a good time!

At the zoo, you may visit with PJ, a gorgeous and critically endangered larger one-horned Indian rhino. There's only so many people who can meet the star at any given moment, so you'd better reserve your spot quickly. There are additional expenses because of this.

More than three hundred and fifty animals of over a hundred different species call the Zoo their home now, from the small but powerful scorpion to the beautiful giraffe and even the critically endangered Indian rhinoceros. Numerous nectar and host plants essential to butterflies' life cycles can be found inside the garden's boundaries. Likewise, there are many varieties of ferns to choose from, all of which spread their spores to create new plants.
